About Sticks & Weeds N' Wallpaper Things

They took a building built in the 1800’s, that was once a restaurant, then a youth center, and restored it to what it is today...Sticks & Weeds N’ Wallpaper Things. “They” are the Salava and Maier families in LeRoy, Kansas. The building was purchased in 2004 and the work began. It started out as a weekend here and there and ended with an enormous project every weekend, and lots of help from other family members and many friends. They started with securing up the north wall and then began removing the large corner stones at the front of the building. The entire north wall was torn down and rebuilt. A project that took hours of hard labor, chiseling the rock to bring down the, 16 ft. tall by 80 ft. long wall. The rock would later be laid, stone by stone to construct the patio area on the north side of the building. This was a true labor of love to restore the building to what it is today. Two years after purchasing the building, Sticks & Weeds N’ Wallpaper Things opened their doors. In preparation of opening the stop, the inside must be filled with all kinds of unique gifts and yards of wallpaper. Dinna Salava and Dorothy Maier, owners/operators of the store bought out a wallpaper store in Chanute and when their store was ready to move in, the yards and yards of wallpaper and borders from the Chanute store were moved in. Inside the store is a mural on the south wall, painted by Brenda Wright in 1979. This mural was preserved and has become part of the decor of Sticks & Weeds. Dinna and Dorothy have done an amazing job decorating the store to display everything they have to offer. And what they have to offer is incredible. A must see. If you are looking for wallpaper, they have it. If you’re looking for candles, they carry those. If you just want to shop, you need to make the trip to LeRoy and visit Dinna and Dorothy and their unique store...Sticks & Weeds N’ Wallpaper Things, 621 Main Street, LeRoy, Kansas.
